Eighty participants in a charity project called Anxin Home received certificates authorized by the American Heart Association at a charity event, featuring a walk and a launch ceremony for Anxin Home, held Monday at Sea World in Shekou, according to sznews.com.
The charity project, jointly launched by China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Holdings Co. Ltd. (CMSK), Lingshan charitable foundation and China Merchants Charitable Foundation, is dedicated to promoting the distribution of automated external defibrillators (AED), a portable electronic device that can automatically diagnose life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias and treat them through defibrillation, in public areas and helping the public learn more first-aid knowledge, according to the report.
The event also provided a chance for participants to learn about the culture and history of Shekou over the past 40 years.
Hundreds of people attended the walk, which covered 8 kilometers.
Four stops were set up along the route, with areas for interactive activities like a CPR experience activity and photo shooting activity, for residents to study health and safety-related knowledge.
Initiated in 2014, the charity walk organized by CMSK has promoted a low-carbon and green lifestyle, and it will be held across the country along with the Anxin Home event, the report said.
At present, Anxin Home has set up 31 AED stations in public areas across the city, including China Merchants Tower, Shekou Sea World and Sea World Culture and Arts Center, as well as other transport hubs and commercial centers, to provide first aid for residents.
